I first worked in venture capital when I was 18. During my first two years of college, I interned with the growth team at Alumni Ventures Group, helping to execute on outreach to prospective LPs. This role was the spark that ignited my interest in VC.
Competitive sports made me who I am. Growing up, I was always involved in competitive team sports. In addition to being an incredibly fun experience, being a part of multiple sports teams was a huge part of my personal growth. Working hard for both myself and the team, building strong relationships with teammates, and learning how to communicate effectively to achieve a mutual goal were all key takeaways from my experiences that apply today.
A major strength of mine is creative problem solving. With any challenge or issue that pops up, whether it’s work or life in general, I like to think outside of the box to find a solution. It’s great when there is a straightforward solution to a problem, but when there isn’t, having the creativity to find a unique solution is something I pride myself on.
I strive for versatility. I never want to put myself in a box. I like to stay open minded and ready to take on any new challenge, whether it’s a new job, project, or hobby. Having the belief that I can do anything I put time and energy into at a high level is important to me.
Always be a sponge. One of my favorite quotes is, “We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.” One of the best ways to learn is to listen to those who know more than you.
I love sports. My favorite hobbies have always involved sports. These days, I love playing golf and kicking a soccer ball around, whether it’s a pickup game or just getting some shots in on an open goal. I really enjoy watching professional football, soccer, and basketball (Go Warriors!). I also play in multiple fantasy football leagues with friends and family for some additional competition.
I learned about the world through soccer. Once I stopped playing competitively after high school, I dove into following all of the major leagues and competitions around the world. Through this I was introduced to all sorts of different teams, fanbases, and cultures. I aim to travel to as many major soccer competitions as possible and use that as a starting point to experience as may different cultures as I can.
